Onboarding to Inwoven

There are two ways to your first board: by yourself, or through your agent. This page says what you press at each step and what Inwoven promises.

Two ways in

Pick one. Both end on your board, signed in.

By yourself. You sign in with your email, name your product and choose where its backlog lives.

Through your agent. Your agent asks to set you up, you approve one mail, and your board opens signed in. You do not sign in again.

By yourself, step by step

You enter one sign-in code, once.

  1. Enter your email on the sign-in page and press Send code. A new email creates your account. Inwoven mails you a six-digit code.
  2. Enter the six digits. The page signs you in when the sixth digit is in.
  3. Under What are you building?, type a product name and press Create.
  4. Under Where should the backlog live?, press Choose on With us. Your board opens. We host the backlog, and you can move it to GitHub any time.
  5. To keep the backlog in GitHub instead, press Connect on In a GitHub repo. Storage settings opens with four steps: Connect GitHub, Choose the repository, Choose the branch and file and Check the file.
  6. Press Open GitHub and allow the Inwoven app. GitHub sends you back. Choose the repository, then its branch and file, and press Check the file. Inwoven checks the file and links your board to it.

Through your agent, step by step

You approve one mail. Your agent does the rest.

  1. Give your agent the setup line from the AGENTS.md guide. It reads the setup guide and drafts your first items from your repo.
  2. Your agent asks you one question that holds your email, the product name and where the backlog lives. You answer it.
  3. Inwoven mails you a request from your agent. Its subject names your agent and says it wants to set up Inwoven for you. The mail holds a code and the button Review and approve. Check that your agent shows the same code.
  4. Press Approve. To stop, press Cancel instead. Approve signs this browser in, so you meet no sign-in form. A backlog we host opens your board.
  5. An agent that can read your mail may press Approve for you. It then gives you a sign-in link that works once, for 15 minutes. Open it.
  6. A backlog in GitHub goes on to GitHub. Allow the Inwoven app for the repository. GitHub sends you back. The repository connects when one of your verified GitHub emails is the address the setup names. If none is, Inwoven asks for a sign-in code once and then connects, without a second trip to GitHub.

What Inwoven promises

Each promise holds at every step on this page.

  1. On your board you are signed in.
  2. By yourself you enter one sign-in code.
  3. After your agent sets you up, you never enter a sign-in code, unless your backlog lives in GitHub and none of your GitHub emails is the address the setup names. Then you enter one.
  4. A forwarded approval link never links anyone's repository to someone else's product.
  5. When you reach your board through your agent, your agent holds its key.

The approval link signs in whoever presses Approve, so keep the mail to yourself.

When it stops

Nothing is made until you approve.

Press Cancel on the approval page and Inwoven makes nothing.

If no one approves within an hour, the setup expires and makes nothing. Your agent can start again.

This page is the specification

The diagram and the promises come from a checked model.

The model is written in TLA+ and checked with the TLC model checker. TLC visits every state the model can reach and checks the five promises in each.

The diagram is drawn from the model's own output. When a step of onboarding changes, the model changes first, the checker runs again and the diagram is made again. Inwoven's own checks fail while the model, the diagram and the product's steps disagree.
